When Art Becomes Liberty: The Egyptian Surrealists (1938-1965)
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea (MMCA) is presenting its first exhibition of the year in MMCA Deoksugung, from April to July. This exhibition documents the history and evolution of the work of the Egyptian surrealists and their remarkable legacy, both within Egypt and the international surrealist circles from the late 1930s to the early 1960s and the present. It sheds light on the development of Egyptian surrealism, along with its links to international surrealist organizations through its involvement in anti-Fascist and post-colonial movements.

Transportation The Museum is located inside Deoksugung Palace, Seoul
- City Hall Station, Subway Line No. 1, Exit No. 2 or Subway Line No. 2, Exit No. 12
 - National Museum of Art, Deoksugung is located inside the Deoksugung Palace grounds. Enter the main entrance (Daehanmun) of Deoksugung Palace to visit the museum.
 - There is no parking lot in Deoksugung Palace.
 - Please use nearby commercial parking lots, in Plaza Hotel, Koreana Hotel, Hansung Parking Lot, The Kyunghyang Shinmun, and Franciscan Friary.
