
16th Korean American Experience for Law Enforcement Officers
The Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles held the 16th Korean American Experience for Law Enforcement workshop on Thursday, May 3rd. The purpose of the event was to help police officers understand Korean culture and broaden their cultural experiences in order to decrease the conflicts that could be caused by cultural barriers and to prevent disadvantages Koreans might experience thereby.
The speakers for the events included prominent professors from prestigious universities and an attorney. The program consisted of Korean immigration history, Korean-American history, Korean Food experiencing, Korean society, and basic Korean language lesson. Also, the Xplore Takwondo Team, presented a Taekwondo demonstration on the Third Floor, which really gave officers a variety of the Korean culture experience.
More than 50 police officers from 8 districts of LAPD West Bureau including Hollywood, Olympic, Wilshire, West Traffic, West LA, Pacific, Rampart, OWB participated in the workshop.
