The opera "Les pecheurs de perles," or "The Pearl Fishers," is one of the earlier works of Bizet, the French composer famous for his final work "Carmen."

Set in Ceylon, or Sri Lanka, the opera portrays the forbidden love and friendship among two men and a priestess.

The beautiful and exotic music shows Bizet’s imaginings of the ancient, mysterious Orient.
