North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on April 27 that Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un left Pyeongyang in the early morning for the historic Inter-Korean Summit to be held at the Panmunjeom truce village at 9:30 a.m.

“Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Worker’s Party of Korea and chairman of the States Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, left Pyeongyang early on Friday morning for the historic North-South summit meeting and talks to be held on the Southern side of Panmunjeom,” said the KCNA in an article it published at 6:31 a.m.

“The North-South summit meeting and talks are to take place on the Southern side for the first time in the history of the nation’s division,” said the KCNA. “The respected supreme leader is to cross the demarcation line at Panmunjeom at 9 a.m. on Friday to meet and have historic talks with President Moon Jae-in.”

Regarding the summit, the KCNA said that, “Kim Jong Un will open-heartedly discuss with President Moon Jae-in all the issues arising in improving inter-Korean relations and achieving peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean Peninsula.”

“After the North-South summit meeting and talks, Kim Jong Un will plant a memorial tree with President Moon Jae-in, make public the results of the historic Panmunjeom talks, and attend a dinner hosted by President Moon Jae-in before returning to Pyeongyang," the KCNA said.
