Korea’s minting authority released its design for medallions that honor peace on the Korean Peninsula, in Seoul on July 16.

The Korea Minting Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corporation (Komsco) has begun limited sales of the medallions that celebrate the historic April 27 Inter-Korean Summit and to raise funds to help with the unification of the two Koreas.

On the face of the medal, there's a picture of President Moon Jae-in and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Kim Jong Un shaking hands, with the Korean Peninsula in the background. On the reverse, it shows the feet of the two leaders as they cross the border together during the Inter-Korean Summit, and the slogan says, “Peace, a new start.”

Only a limited number of these medallions will be available to consumers, with 3,000 in gold, 30,000 in silver and 50,000 in bronze.

In Korea, the medallions are being sold online at Kocsco's website, at the Hyundai H mall and at other Hyundai.com websites. Consumers living in Singapore can buy them from the Singapore Mint. People elsewhere can buy the medals at Pungsan Corporation’s website (www.hwadong.com, Korean only).
