President Moon Jae-in left Seoul Airport at 8:40 a.m. on Sept. 18 for his third inter-Korean summit to be held in Pyeongyang.

Prior to the departure, President Moon said that if this summit leads to the resumption of talks between the U.S. and North Korea, it gives significant meaning by itself, said Senior Secretary to the President for Public Communications Yoon Young-chan in the first official press briefing at the main press center in Seoul.

"The president then said that it's very important for the two Koreas to meet frequently and that the inter-Korean engagement is developing beyond a regular one into one where both leaders can meet whenever they want," Yoon added.

President Moon will arrive at Pyeongyang Sunan International Airport at 10 a.m. and attend the official welcoming ceremony there. After a luncheon, the two leaders will hold their first summit of the event.

"What we are looking for is an irreversible, permanent peace," said Yoon. “What we want is not a new declaration or agreement but to step forward to a new era based on the agreements already made.”
