The global startup festival COMEUP 2019 will be held from Nov. 28-29 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul.
Organized by the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development, the event is expected to attract about 80 companies from 30 countries and will feature eight sectors -- food technology, fintech, mobility, entertainment, beauty and fashion, bio and health, frontier technology, and education technology and lifestyle.
On the eve of the event on Nov. 27 is the so-called Fam Tour for global media and the startup ecosystem. The tour is divided into one featuring infrastructure and visits to startup support organizations such as Tipstown and Maru180 and another featuring the corporate side through trips to Korea-based unicorns, or startups valued at USD 1 billion or more.
At the opening ceremony on Nov. 28, Kim Bong-jin, CEO of Woowa Brothers Corp., the company that created the food delivery app Baedal Minjok, who is also chairman of the Korea Startup Forum, will deliver the opening speech under the theme "Korea’s Startup Ecosystem and Its Future."
In addition, about 60 startup experts from Korea and abroad will speak at the event.
