Korean dishes based on the concepts of harmony, healing and health will be presented in Milan.

A Korean food tasting event took place at the headquarters of CJ Foodville in Jung-gu District in central Seoul on March 26. Participants were able to sample the menu items that will be served in the Korean restaurant that will be one of the highlights of the Korea pavilion at the World Exposition Milano 2015. Six special dishes were prepared, based on three themes: harmony, healing and health. The dishes were designed to actualize the theme of the Korea pavilion, "Hansik, Food for the Future: You Are What You Eat." The theme suggests that Korean food, which may include many natural ingredients, can be a possible sustainable alternative for the future.

The dishes introduced this time were prepared in a Western manner on a single plate, as the tradition of setting all the dishes on the dining table in an array of plates has been reinterpreted. The menu items consist of mainstream Korean dishes and ingredients, including kimchi, fermented bean paste and bibimbap, a bowl of assorted vegetables mixed with rice.
Bibimbap, part of the 'Harmony' menu, boasts five colors.

In addition to the special menu items, the restaurant in the Korea pavilion will serve popular single dishes, like bibimbap and bulgogi, marinated beef, as well as desserts, beverages and cocktails. Visitors can also purchase food items, including red chili-pepper paste, seaweed and other snacks.

The Korea pavilion at the expo is designed after a "moon jar," a round ceramic jar that is used to store food, and boasts the beauty of curved pottery. The building will also feature traditional elements from both Italian and Korean architecture, such as an eaves and a garden.

The expo will be held from May 1 to October 31, and 145 countries are expected to participate in the event. Its theme is "Feeling the Planet, Energy for Life." It is one of the expos registered with the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) and is held every five years.

Among the major guests present at the tasting were First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism Park Min-gwon and Korea Tourism Organization CEO Byun Choo-suk.
