Fans swarmed the Shanghai International Exhibition Center (Intex Shanghai) on the afternoon of Aug. 27 to get a glimpse of the boy band Infinite and of TV personality Lee Kwang-soo. The fans yelled out their cheers when Infinite appeared on stage. As the pop group sang "Love Letter" and danced across the stage, the fans cried out each member's name and shouted, "Saranghae," or, "I love you." After the performance, the fans sang "Happy Birthday" for Lee Sung-yeol, a member of the group, who had a birthday that day.

Later, TV star Lee Kwang-soo stepped onto the stage and the fans sent up a barrage of cheers. Lee's popularity is ever growing in China as he appears on SBS' variety show "Running Man." Lee answered questions posed by an emcee and took pictures with the fans.

The stage appearance by Lee and Infinite was part of the opening ceremony for the Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo 2015, Shanghai that was held from Aug. 27 to 29.

The expo was partly in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Korean independence. A total of 106 Korean companies specialized in the arts, entertainment, IT, fashion and food took part in the expo and held business meetings with 500 Chinese buyers and investors.

Some 29 companies specialized in broadcasting, animation, cartoon character-branded goods, video games and comic books set up booths in the Contents Promotion and Experience section at Intex Shanghai, promoting their products and allowing spectators to see their goods first-hand.

Visitors were really interested in the cartoon characters from "Pororo the Little Penguin" and from "Hello Jadoo." Many of them took photos of or selfies with stationary, toys, cosmetics and household goods. There were also long lines of video gamers who wanted to try out the new computer games with the tablet PCs that were on hand.

There was a Korea vs. China video game competition. Korean gamers and their Chinese counterparts played "Dungeon Fighter Online," one of the most popular games in China, and the Chinese online services company Tencent broadcasted the event live.

There was also an investor relations meeting at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel on Aug. 27 and 28. Some 17 Korean companies specialized in broadcasting, video games, animation and comic books met with 40 Chinese investors and talked about future business opportunities.
