A model holds up the full skirt with both hands. Her feet can be seen underneath, stepping softly and lightly. From her carefully coifed hair to her steps, everything about the model is elegant. The magic of traditional Hanbok attire and fashion can be seen firsthand on the runway.

A Hanbok fashion show was held at Cheong Wa Dae's Sarangchae exhibition hall in Jongno-gu District on Oct. 21 in honor of Hanbok Day. The fashion show was held as part of a special exhibition on traditional Hanbok attire. President Park Geun-hye attended the fashion show and toured the exhibit. "I hope that Hanbok, which we all love, will become wanted by more and more people, both domestically and internationally," said the president.

The Hanbok exhibit traces the timeline of the traditional garb and has on display Hanbok from the 1920s through to the "new Hanbok" that can be seen on the streets of Seoul today. Hanbok worn by celebrities in period-piece soap operas or worn by the president at official functions such as diplomatic summits and her inauguration dinner in 2013 were also on display.

Marking its eighth year this year, Hanbok Day was begun to promote the beauty of traditional clothing and to encourage people to wear Hanbok in their day-to-day lives.
