A Belgian TV station has begun to feature a second series of a Korean cooking show.

The cooking channel Njam TV is airing a series of Korean cooking shows from Sept. 13 to Oct. 10, announced the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union.

Njam TV is featuring four Korean dishes on its show “Passe-vite”: bibimbap mixed rice with vegetables and meat, bulgogi marinated beef, steamed shrimp, and samsaekjeon, a three-colored vegetable savory pancake made with pumpkin, shitake mushrooms and pollock.

These dishes are considered to be iconic Korean dishes. The instructions are easy to follow and the ingredients are readily available at Belgian grocery stores.

Chef Yim Hyung-soo will be preparing the Korean recipes on Njam TV. Yim majored in both Korean and Western cooking, graduated from le Cordon Bleu London and studied at the Institute of Traditional Korean Food. He has been introducing Korean food to U.K. diners since 1995. Ae Jin Huys, head of a catering firm, will host the program and interpret the recipes.

Earlier this year, Njam TV broadcast a series of Korean cooking shows between February and March, featuring five dishes: gujeolpan, a platter of nine delicacies, gulbap, steamed oysters and rice, haemul pajeon, a seafood savory pancake, maekjeok gui, grilled pork skewers, and saengseon ganjang jorim, boiled fish in soy sauce. According to the embassy, more than 300,000 people watched the show.

“Thanks to the favorable responses from viewers concerning the previous shows that featured Korean cooking, another series of Korean cooking shows has been made,” said Ambassador Ahn Chong-ghee, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union.

“As Belgians are highly interested in overseas food, when we introduce Korean food and cooking, it will naturally help promote Korean ingredients and agricultural products,” said the ambassador.
