A heated competition took place in New Delhi, as 16,140 students participated in the second Korea-India Friendship Quiz Competition 2017, hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in India.

Although only the second year for the annual competition, it attracted 50 schools from New Delhi and nearby areas to join in the contest.

The 20 contestants who made it to the final round after stiff competition were challenged to answer questions about the Korean language and about Korean society, culture and history.

The first prize, a six-days-five-nights trip to Korea, went to Mrityunjay Shukla, a student from Delhi Public School. He said, “I'm eager to experience the culture, food and the place. All of it! So far, I've only read about it through books and on TV shows.” He also said that he achieved his victory after one year’s hard work.

“It’s important to promote Korea to the young generation, especially in India, the youngest country in the world,” said Kim Kum-pyoung, the director of the Korean Cultural Center in India. “This annual quiz contest is an opportunity for Indian students to have an interest in and to learn something about Korea.”
