The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) is seeking its seventh class of Honorary Reporters to work with the team at Korea.net throughout 2018.

This outstanding group of individuals interacts online with people from all around the world, letting them know about the breadth and variety of life in Korea and about their lives overseas. Our group of Honorary Reporters will include both Koreans and non-Koreans, living both in Korea and elsewhere, creating a global network of writers, bloggers and reporters. It is their stories that make our lives richer and more diverse.

1. Qualifications

■ Both Koreans and non-Koreans qualify to be Honorary Reporters. They should be interested in sharing their stories and in interacting online, emphasizing both the similarities between Korea and the world, and the differences between Korean society and other societies around the world.
■ They should be active users of social media: Snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, blogs, Twitter, Weibo, Youtube, et cetera.
■ They should be able to generate content in English.
* We highly recommend that both our Korean and non-Korean Honorary Reporters be able to write, including people both in Korea or those who live elsewhere. Even those who apply to be Honorary Photographers or Honorary Video Makers, so to speak, should be able to create content in the form of a written article, including the photos or videos as well as the text.
* Starting next year, Honorary Reporters can create content in simplified Chinese and Mandarin, Japanese, German, Russian or Spanish, in addition to English and Arabic.

2. Activities

■ Write about the humanities, arts, sports, cuisine, tourism, et cetera. If you are a non-Korean living here, write about your day-to-day life, focusing on the peculiarities and habits of modern Korean society. If you live overseas, focus on your life there as a South Korean national. Also, if you live overseas, you can write about any Korean event, festival or exhibition that comes through your city.
■ Support promotional activities run by Korea.net and KOCIS, both online and offline.
■ Participate in events or tour programs run by KOCIS and related organizations.

3. Benefits

■ Honorary Reporters will be able to take part in events run by KOCIS and related organizations.
■ Honorary Reporters will have the chance to generate content at social networking services run by Korea.net, such as the Korea.net website (http://www.korea.net) or at our official Facebook profile, KoreaClickers (https://www.facebook.com/KoreaClickers).
* Each language will have its own set of social networking profiles starting in 2018.
■ Honorary Reporters who generate superior content will be paid a very small honorarium for their work.
■ Honorary Reporters will receive a formal letter of appointment (as a PDF) and tokens of our appreciation. Only those who can come to the induction ceremony in early 2018 in Seoul will receive a hard copy of their letter of appointment.
