The Korean Cultural Heritage Administration is hosting a performance of various Korean traditional arts, many of which have been listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, including parts of the Gangneung Dano Festival, Jongmyo jeryeak and pansori, at the National Gugak Center from June 15 to 16.

The Gangneung Dano Festival is Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 13. The festival includes a wide variety of different folk performances, including tightrope walking, shamanist rituals and mask dances, some of which will be recreated for the Cultural Heritage Administration performance.

The Jongmyo jeryeak is a ceremony held for the ancestors of the royal family at the Jongmyo Shrine in central Seoul involving traditional orchestral performances, songs and dances. The Cultural Heritage Administration’s performance has been modified to be a nonverbal performance about the life of King Sejong.
Other traditional performances at the Cultural Heritage Administration event include Korean mask plays, pansori singing, and dances.
