'Time' magazine blog covers K-Pop craze
Mar 08, 2012
It appears Global Spin, a Time magazine blog, has finally caught on to the K-Pop craze.
A post titled “South Korea’s Greatest Export: How K-Pop’s Rocking the World” was published on the blog on March 7, where writer Krista Mahr, who attended the recent Big Bang concert at Seoul’s Olympic Park last weekend, offered her two cents on the current K-Pop boom.

She focused on the “fan rice” culture, where K-Pop fans show their support for their favorite idol groups by purchasing rice by the bag loads as gifts for the stars, who then donate them to charities. Mahr also discussed the “spinoff booms” in the fashion and cram school industries that K-Pop has caused.
