Will Smith praises the korean film market

Source : enewsWorld (tvN)

Will Smith had a lot of good things to say about Korea’s film market and its culture.

Will Smith attended the world premiere press conference for Men in Black 3 held on May 7 in Seoul to reveal how he felt about his first trip to Korea in 10 years.

Will Smith said to a question asking why the world premiere event is being held in Korea, “10 years ago when the World Cup was being held in Korea, I came to Korea to promote Men in Black 2, and it was a success. We thought we should aim for the global market when we were producing the film, and Korea is a big market that’s still growing.”

He then added, “I like Seoul. I came with my wife and my daughter this time, and they’re enjoying Seoul right now. I heard a lot about Wonder Girls too because they talked about Wonder Girls.”

Director Barry Sonnenfeld and the young Agent K Josh Brolin also said that they were “very impressed” by Korea.

Barry Sonnenfeld said, “Yesterday we came to Korea and we had Korean barbecue and heard someone play the ajaeng, and it was brilliant. The buildings were all very modern, too,” and Josh Brolin said, “I saw a bridge with fountains on our way to the hotel from the airport. That was impressive.”

Josh Brolin will also be starring in the Hollywood remake of the Korean film Old Boy, which will start shooting in America from October. This is his first visit to Korea, but he previously met with director Park Chan-wook to talk about the film. Josh Brolin said, “Director Park Chan-wook is a great director. He’s really famous in America. It was impressive to see how modest he was even though he was so well-known.”

Men in Black 3 is the third installment in the hit Men in Black series. The film will premiere in Korea on May 24, earlier than any other country in the world.
