President Park talks with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez

“We would welcome your visit very much,” President Park greeted the senator, who also serves as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “I really appreciated the warm hospitality that you provided in Congress in May and that has helped us to gain fruitful results.”

The president also thanked the senator for his support in adopting a joint declaration for the Korea-U.S. alliance when she visited the U.S. on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in May, as well as a recent resolution on the peaceful reunification of Korea. “We have always felt gratitude for the US as our good partner and friend,” she said.

“[It was] an address that I was privileged to serve on the escort committee for, and which was very well received,” said Senator Menendez about the speech President Park delivered to Congress earlier this year.
