Foreign Minister's speech at 63rd anniversary of the United Nations Day

1. On October 20, Minister Yu Myung-hwan will attend a luncheon hosted by the UN Association of the ROK to commemorate the 63rd United Nations Day to deliver a speech.
2. In his speech, Minister Yu will touch upon various issues such as the role of the UN for the 21st century, multilateral foreign policies of the Korean government, our efforts to become a
‘mature global state’ that contributes to the international community, the ODA and PKO policies of Korea, our bid to host the 2012 World Summit focusing on climate change and sustainable development, the North Korean nuclear issue and the inter-Korean relations.
3. About 160 participants will attend this ceremony including the diplomatic corps in Korea, government officials, members of the UN Association and the UN Youth Association of the ROK, scholars, former UN peacekeeping forces and the press.
