Every year, the magazine makes a list of the 100 most important figures from around the world in various sectors, including art, politics, business, and religion.

“The first female president of the Republic of Korea, Madame Park Geun-hye is an inspiration for all women trying to break through the glass ceiling and for all individuals committed to serving the people,” said Yingluck Shinawatra, the first female prime minister of Thailand, in a bio published by the magazine, also telling about her first meeting with President Park at her inauguration this February, as well as President Park’s vision of creating a “second miracle on the Han River.”
“President Park has what it takes to usher in an era of hope and happiness for the Korean people and to contribute to the stability and dynamism of the Korean Peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region, benefiting her country as well as East Asia and the ASEAN community.”

Another South Korean -- Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics Kwon Oh-Hyun -- was included on TIME’s list.
Mentioning successful business leaders in consumer electronics like Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Sony co-founder Akio Morita, former Apple CEO John Sculley said in the magazine, “Kwon joins those business giants.”
