"Heartwarming," "touched," "tears" and "overcome."
These are the words most frequently used in the 1,159 comments (as of 3 p.m. on March 18) for the video "Korea, Wonderland?" posted by the Korean Culture and Information Service, an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The clip shows ordinary Korean volunteering to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country. Less than 24 hours since it was uploaded, the video attracted more than 170,000 hits, 1,100 comments and 11,000 likes.
Among the comments were "Respect from Bulgaria, I wish I was born in society like this (Georg Skyborn)" and "Even if I am not Korean this video gave me goosebumps...love and respect from India (Rough Altruism)."
Korea.net's YouTube channel, whose content is in English, had more Korean comments than English ones, unlike many of its other videos. Many Koreans left comments saying how they were touched by the video and expressed their wish for Korea and the world to jointly overcome COVID-19.
