The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has launched on social media the "Overcome Together" campaign to encourage people worldwide to stay positive and jointly defeat the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Launched on March 21, the campaign took off after a video KOCIS posted on YouTube titled "Korea, Wonderland?" attracted attention both at home and abroad since it was uploaded on March 17. The video shows how Koreans unite to help their nation fight COVID-19.
The campaign began on individual social media accounts with hashtags like #Overcome_Together in both Korean and English. People posted videos of themselves washing hands for 30 seconds, drinking water to stay hydrated and wearing masks when going out, saying at the end "Overcome Together!"
About 2,000 Korea.net Honorary Reporters, or foreign volunteers worldwide who write about Korea, participated in this challenge. The campaign is designed to encourage people to stay healthy and contain the further spread of COVID-19.
MeiKCJ and Bandung Oppa, YouTubers who each have more than 450,000 subscribers, also participated in the challenge, and more around the world are joining the campaign.
