Ryu bagged nine birdies and fired a bogey-free opening round of 9-under-par 63, setting a new course record. Her name remained on the top of the LPGA open leaderboard until the fourth round. Ryu made a fresh start by making four birdies in the fourth round but she did fade later when her shot moved to the left. She made mistakes with bogeys at the 10th and 15th holes. But she did not collapse. She birdied the 16th hole and finished the round with par to finalize her first victory of the season.

“I've been waiting so long for the champagne," she said, when asked how she feels about the victory. "I was ready to get champagne. I put champagne on Inbee maybe more than five times, but finally she gave it to me. So it feels great."

“After I made a birdie at the 9th hole I was sure I could win. But actually, you know what, Na-yeon almost chased me down, so I was pretty nervous at that moment,” Ryu added.

Ryu said she had dinner with Park Inbee and Choi Na-yeon on Wednesday ahead of the first round of the tour event in which their names were listed as the second and third ranked players.

“After I signed my card, Na-yeon asked me, ‘Why don’t we go to have dinner every Wednesday night?’” Ryu said. “I think that’s a good tradition, so I think we’re going to stick with that.”

Ryu has had nine top-ten finishes this season but her thirst for LPGA victory was quenched this time with the winner's share of $337,500. She also jumped from number nine to number five in the world rankings.
