The 2015 Korea Sports for All Festival opens on May 15 at Icheon Stadium, Gyeonggi-do (Gyeonggi Province).
The 2015 Korea Sports for All Festival, an annual jamboree for casual athletes and amateur sports, took place from May 14 to 17 in Gyeonggi-do (Gyeonggi Province).
Marking its 15th anniversary, the festival was held under the slogan of, “Let’s become one! Play together Sports for All.” From as young as 7 years old to seniors aged over 90, about 20,000 participants took part in the festival, while displaying their physical capabilities across a total of 56 sport disciplines, including 38 official sports, eight sports for those with disabilities and 10 demonstration sports.
These amateur athletes also include non-Korean participants. They included 195 Japanese members of Sports for All clubs, who took part in 10 sports, and 127 ethnic Koreans from six countries, including the U.S., Australia, China, Vietnam and Canada, who were visiting Korea to participate in seven sports.
Approximately 20,000 viewers and amateur athletes, representing 17 cities and provinces from across the country, participated in the opening ceremony of the festival, which took place under the slogan of, “Good Morning Sports Festival,” at Icheon Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on May 15.
