From Rwanda in Africa, Ecuador in South America and Malaysia in Asia, a total of 56 young parasport athletes from ten countries have visited Korea.

They will participate in the “Youth Para Sports Camp,” slated for June 22 to July 1 at the Icheon Training Center run by the Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC). The slogan for the sports camp is, “Now Dream, Tomorrow Paralympian.”

The event was organized by the KPC, marking its 10th anniversary this year. It was designed to offer educational opportunities to young athletes in countries where people may not have the chance to train in parasports, helping them to boost their capability and help them develop their dreams of becoming paralympians.

During the camp, training in five sport disciplines will be held: archery, boccia, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair tennis.

Parasport experts will teach the camp participants in each of the sports. The young athletes will also learn from paralympians themselves, such as table tennis athlete Kim Byoung-young and wheelchair tennis athlete Lee Ha Gel.

The camp program includes cultural experience tours and an opportunity to build friendships with young athletes from other countries.
