Kim Si Woo finished at the top of the 2017 Players Championship on May 14, held at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Sawgrass in Florida, the unofficial fifth major of the sport.

The 21-year-old golfer not only gained this year’s victory in the Players Championship but he also became the youngest Players Champion in its history.

In the four rounds where Kim finished at 10-under 278 in total, Kim recorded two bogeys in the first and second round each, and showed flawless play in the final round by recording three birdies without a single bogey. He devoted himself to winning the game by three strokes.

Winning a PGA victory is quite difficult. Kim has now done so twice in major championships.

“I can’t believe that I'm the champion and the youngest championship winner,” said Kim.

“I will work harder.”

“ “In the final round, I didn't have much of a burden, as I won last year,” said Kim.

“Participating in this championship itself was my dream, ever since Choi Kyung-ju won it in 2011,” he said.

“I'm so happy to train with Choi and to have learned from his advice,” said Kim, emphasizing that Choi’s tips helped him to achieve a good outcome.

Ranking at the top in a major championship, Kim received not only the prize money worth USD 1.89 million but also now qualifies to participate in the PGA tour for the next five years and in the Masters tournament in three years.
