The fourth Korea-Poland Joint Economic Committee meets in Warsaw on Feb. 16, with Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Lee Tae-ho and Polish Undersecretary of State Tadeusz Koscinski of the Ministry of Development in attendance.



Korea and Poland have agreed to expand economic cooperation on sectors such as infrastructure, energy and online government services.

The fourth Korea-Poland Joint Economic Committee met in Warsaw on Feb. 16, where representatives discussed measures to stimulate their USD 3.5 billion trade and USD 40 million commerce industries.

In particular, they focused the discussion on science and technology, R&D, renewable energy, Poland's infrastructure and online government.

The Polish representatives showed interest in cooperating on transport infrastructure that can support intelligent transportation systems (ITS), as well as housing construction. To get these projects moving, the two sides agreed to share information and to push forward with exchanges of high-level personnel.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the countries signed an MOU outlining cooperation on nuclear and renewable energy sectors.

The two sides agreed that e-government is a promising sector, and discussed setting up Korea's online government systems in Poland.

For Korean investors currently residing in Poland, the parties made the decision to reduce the processing time for long stay visas and to permit the use of Korean driver's licenses.
