Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn speaks with U.S. President Donald Trump on March 7. The leaders denounced North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launch and stressed that both nations will work closely together to strongly respond to the Pyongyang regime’s provocations.

“North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles is a clear violation of multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions.”

Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump on March 7 after North Korea simultaneously launched four ballistic missiles a day earlier.

Over the 20+ minute phone call, both leaders firmly condemned the regime’s latest provocations and agreed to strongly respond to the threats.

Both sides denounced the North’s missile launch as “not only a violation against the U.N. Security Council, but also a threat to the international community as a whole.” They vowed to join forces to upend the North’s strategic calculations by strengthening the Korea-U.S. allied defense posture by means of joint military drills, as well as increase sanctions and pressure on the North.

“Constant nuclear weapon and missile threats from North Korea pose a direct threat to both countries,” said the acting president. “We must defeat the regime’s nuclear ambitions by making our alliance stronger, to deter and defend against the North’s provocations better than ever.”

In response, the U.S. president said, “The U.S. agrees with the Korean government’s stance 100 percent. The U.S. has been and will be with South Korea. Let’s continue close bilateral cooperation to deal with North Korean issues, including its recent provocations with missiles,” the U.S. leader stressed.
