Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha on June 25 visited U.S. troops in a northern Seoul suburb to encourage them and stress the importance of the bilateral Korea-U.S. alliance.

On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, Kang visited the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do Province, and wrote “We go together!” both in Korean and English.

“The ROK (Republic of Korea)-U.S. alliance has been the guardian of peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula,” she said. “Our two countries shed blood together. We have prospered together. And, most importantly, we will go together.”

“The ROK-U.S. alliance stands at a critical juncture to address this existential threat from North Korea and ensure durable peace and stability on the peninsula But I am confident that we can overcome it together. With our ironclad, rock-solid alliance and combined defensive posture, we can achieve our common goal.”

On the upcoming summit between President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump, Kang said, “My president will express his appreciation for the solid ROK-U.S. alliance and your indispensable contribution," adding, “Our two leaders will discuss joint strategy on furthering our comprehensive strategic alliance.”
