President Moon Jae-in will arrive in Germany on July 5 for an official visit at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He is slated to hold summit meetings with Merkel and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier July 5-6, then go to Hamburg to attend the G20 Summit July 7-8.
Presidential spokesman Park Soo-hyun told journalists on June 27 at the media center Chunchugwan at Cheong Wa Dae, “The two leaders will exchange views on a wide variety of issues, including ways to boost friendship between Seoul and Berlin, cooperation measures to jointly deal with North Korean nuclear issues and peace on the Korean Peninsula, work together for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and job creation, support free trade and jointly respond to climate change issues.”
“President Moon will also meet ethnic Korean residents in Germany and members of a German medical support delegation dispatched to Busan during the Korean War and their descendants, and speak at the Körber Foundation.”
The president will then move to Hamburg to attend the G20 Summit July 7-8. There, he will discuss policy cooperation for strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth under the theme “Shaping an Interconnected World.”
The spokesman said, “At the G20 summit, the highest-level consultative body for international economic cooperation, President Moon will have the opportunity to introduce his new government’s core economic policies such as those on job creation, promotion of an eco-friendly energy industry and measures to strengthen the capacity of women in the workforce."
