President Moon Jae-in invited five top aides to Cheong Wa Dae on July 12 to share with them what he’d achieved diplomatically on his recent official visits to the U.S. and Germany, as well as at the G20 Summit.

The five figures included Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, National Assembly Speaker Chung Syekyun, Chief Justice Yang Sung-tae of the Supreme Court of Korea, Acting President Kim Yi-su of the Constitutional Court of Korea, and Chairperson of the National Election Commission Kim Yong-deok.

President Moon said, “The international community has the same concerns as we do concerning the equality, fairness, tolerance and sustainability of employment.”

“At the same time, the thing about which world leaders feel a bit relieved is the fact that the global economy has gotten better over recent years. They agreed that they needed to do their upmost to keep the momentum going.”

“In that the heads of state, in particular, stressed the role of finance in helping economic growth, they seemed to go in line with our government’s efforts to draw up a revised supplementary budget,” he said.

National Assembly Speaker Chung told the president that, “The people feel relieved now that our diplomatic relations with other countries have finally gotten back on track, as you successfully finished the Korea-U.S. summit and a series of talks in Germany, as well as the G20 Summit.”

Chief Justice Yang said that, “These diplomatic experiences must serve as a valuable asset for you as you lead the nation as president. As a common citizen, I believe in you and believe that you will lead the nation quite well.”
