Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Park Soo-hyun expressed Cheong Wa Dae’s view in regard to U.S. President Donald Trump’s keynote speech at the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Sept. 19.

Park said that President Trump’s keynote address showed the determined and clear stance of the international community and that of the U.N. in regard to major global issues related to the management of peace and safety.

The presidential spokesperson said, “As the U.S. president, Trump allocated an unprecedentedly longer time to express his stance on North Korean nuclear weapons and on other related issues, showing just how seriously the U.S. government takes this matter.”

"Trump's address reaffirmed that only the strongest sanctions and pressure can lead Pyongyang to choose denuclearization as the only path toward the future, just as the Korean and U.S. leaders have repeatedly agreed,” said the spokesperson.
