President Moon Jae-in held a summit meeting with Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang in Da Nang, Vietnam, on Nov. 11.

The two heads of state agreed to develop the strategic partnership that currently exists between the two countries.

President Moon said, “Over the past 25 years, since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Vietnam has become Korea’s fourth largest trade partner and Korea has become Vietnam’s third largest trade partner and its largest investor.”

“As the two countries agreed last year, we should work hard together in order to achieve the goal of reaching a yearly trade volume that’s worth USD 100 billion by 2020,” said President Moon.

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang said, “Vietnam considers its partnership with Korea to be important. We put the highest priority on Korea in terms of our diplomacy.”

“I hope that in the future Korea and Vietnam can continue to make remarkable achievements in all areas,” said the Vietnamese president.

President Moon said, “I appreciate Vietnam for supporting us in regard to resolving the North Korean nuclear weapons issue.”

“As a peaceful resolution is more important than ever concerning Pyongyang’s nuclear issue, I hope Vietnam as well as ASEAN can actively support Seoul.” “Vietnam actively supports the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and we will faithfully implement the U.N. Security Council’s resolutions concerning North Korea,” said the Vietnamese leader.
