First lady Kim Jung-sook visited the “Arrival of New Women” exhibit accompanied by a group of female business startup founders, at the Deoksugung branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, in Seoul on Jan. 9.
The exhibition focuses on new types of women that have been portrayed in a modernized society, from the Enlightenment through to colonial times.
After touring the exhibit, the first lady said, "It's very meaningful to learn about the ‘new women’ of about 100 years ago, who tried to overcome the limitations of the times, and about ‘new women' of the 21st century.”
Later that day, Kim attended the 2018 New Year’s Concert at the Seoul Arts Center in Seoul.
The concert featured the song “Variation of Pyeongchang Arari Song,” which was written in honor of the successful hosting of the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The concert was attended by cabinet members, including Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Kim Dong Yeon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Jongwhan and other dignitaries.
