President Moon Jae-in invited Russian Presidential Aide Igor Levitin and representatives of the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) to Cheong Wa Dae on Feb. 20 to encourage them in their Olympic endeavors.
President Moon mentioned the outstanding performances of the OAR men’s ice hockey team and figure skaters, saying, “Such talented Russian athletes’ participation contributes a lot to make the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games a richer festival for the international community.”
The president also said that Korean government will provide support for the success of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia that will start in June.
Levitin delivered the message from Russian President Vladimir Putin that he “personally appreciates Korean Olympic fans for supporting Russians” and invited President Moon to Russia to watch World Cup matches.
