“Peace, A New Start” has been chosen as the official slogan for the upcoming 2018 Inter-Korean Summit.
Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom said in a press briefing that, “The summit is significant for being a new journey toward world peace, as it will bring together the leaders of the two Koreas for the first time in 11 years and, also, will serve as a guide for a following summit between the U.S. and the North. This slogan mirrors the hope of the people that the opportunity has come to us -- for the first time in 11 years -- to have a new start for peace.”
The spokesperson said that President Moon Jae-in asked for a slogan for the summit at an April 11 meeting with the summit preparation committee, acknowledging the need to inform the people about all the details about the preparation process for the talks.
The slogan, with its letters written with a brush on paper, will be used on a variety of material to promote the summit, as well as the background for press briefings.
