Cheong Wa Dae has announced its position on the recently finalized Washington-Pyeongyang summit, to take place in Singapore on June 12.
Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom stated in a briefing on May 11 that, "Next month, for the first time in history, the leaders of the U.S. and North Korea will meet. The Korean government respects the bold decision made by the two leaders. We hope that their meeting will be instrumental in breaking down the final remaining structures of the Cold War and the divisions that are left in this world."
"We hope that the doors to peace and prosperity open wide on the Korean Peninsula, and we wish success for the upcoming summit," he said.
