The foreign ministers of Korea and Cuba held an official meeting in Havana on May 10. It was the first time for the two to meet since the launching of new governments in both countries. The two sides agreed to continue reciprocal cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 11 announced that Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a bilateral meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on the sidelines of the 37th session of the U.N. Economic Commission for Latin America and Caribbean (ECLAC) that was being held in the Cuban capital.

The two ministers discussed ways to enhance Korea-Cuba ties, expand substantive cooperation, and exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and across other parts of the world. Particularly, they took note of the continual increase in cooperation between Seoul and Havana across many different fields, including business, the arts, sports and overall economic development, and agreed to continue reciprocal cooperation.

They also agreed to consult further on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly session in September 2018.
