A press center will be set up in Singapore, host of the upcoming June 12 U.S.-North Korea Summit, so that Korean and non-Korean media outlets will be able to cover the first-ever historic dialogue on the spot.

The Korea Press Foundation announced on June 7 that the press center will be set up at the Swissotel The Stamford, about 8 km from Sentosa Island where the summit is taking place. The press center will be open from June 11 to 13, with 500 seats available.

According to Cheong Wa Dae, Second Deputy Chief of the Presidential National Security Office Nam Gwan-pyo will brief the press on updates of the ongoing summit and on the Korean government’s official stance on the results.

On top of that, the press center will host two rounds of panel discussions for insight from Korean and non-Korean diplomatic and security experts.

Under the theme of “Peace Talks and Korean Peninsula,” the first discussion will start on June 11 and be moderated by Anna Fifield, the Seoul/ Tokyo Bureau Chief for The Washington Post. Associate Professor from Yonsei University John Delury, Professor Shawn Ho from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University and other experts will talk about post-summit prospects and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The June 13 discussion will bring together prominent journalists to share with their Korean counterparts their thoughts on issues concerning the peninsula.
