President Moon Jae-in on Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. held his first phone call with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden. The 15-minute talk came four days after the next American leader gave a speech on his election victory.

Right after the call, President Moon posted on Twitter, "I just spoke to @JoeBiden and congratulated him on his election," adding, "We reaffirmed our firm commitment to a robust ROK (Republic of Korea)-US alliance and a peaceful and prosperous Korean Peninsula."

"Going forward, I will work closely with him to meet global challenges including COVID-19 and climate change."

In the U.S., President-elect Biden on Nov. 11 paid tribute to those who fought in the Korean War in Pennsylvania. Marking U.S. Veterans Day, he and his wife Jill laid a wreath at the Philadelphia Korean War Memorial.
