Arirang

The video is about Korea’s best known traditional song, “Arirang,” adapted by performers around the world. The romantic but sad song that depicts love and separation is no longer a depressing song as it has been adapted into different genres of music including classical and jazz. It has even been turned into rock music or hip-hop with strong beats and exciting rhythms.

It has been adapted by many orchestras and musicians including New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Joe Hisashi, Nat King Cole, Paul Mauriat, and George Winston. Korean pianist Lee Ji-su readapted the song into “Arirang Rhapsody,” which was performed by Czech Philharmonic.
