The Geumsan Insam(Ginseng) Festival is Geumsan County's leading festival. Geumsan County, which is located in Chungcheongnam-do province, is the largest producer of ginseng in Korea and home to a ginseng and medicinal herb market. The festival, which has been running for 29 years, is held to promote the beneficial effects of Geumsan ginseng.

The Geumsan Ginseng Pavilion will feature exhibits on everything related to ginseng, including a special fair for the international ginseng trade and a hands-on health area featuring folk medicinal remedies. Visitors can also enjoy Geumsan traditional folk performances, singing and dance contests, a dramatic production about ginseng, and various other attractions. Participants in the hands-on programs can pick ginseng and make a decorative ginseng bottle for themselves. Visitors can also participate in the ginseng cooking contest, a sports competition, and a marathon.

For foreign travelers, there is also a singing contest, a ginseng herb quiz, ginseng t-shirt painting, herb cutting, and other unique programs.

Transportation

From Seoul's Express Bus Terminal, take an express bus for Geumsan (it takes 2 hours 40 minutes / buses run every 60 to 90 minutes) and get off at Geumsan Bus Terminal. It is approximately a 5-minute walk from the terminal to the festival venue.
