“A crackling, visceral reading that held the audience in rapt attention.” - The New York Times
The first classical offering of Musco Center’s second season features an exciting teaming of two decorated and celebrated artists in an evening of Schubert and Rachmaninoff. Award-winning violist Richard Yongjae O’Neill has played in the world’s most famous halls, and pianist Dong-Hyek Lim has performed with orchestras worldwide.
O’Neill and Lim will perform Moment Musicaux No. 2 and 3, Song Transcriptions and Arpeggione Sonata by Austrian composer Schubert, as well as Sonata in G minor, Op. 19 by Rachmaninoff. Schubert was known for both pleasingly light melodies and rich compositional experimentation, while Rachmaninoff set himself apart with uncompromising power of expression. O'Neill and Lim lend their technical prowess to enlivening the works of these notable and revered composers.
