Fri 5 Nov 6.30pm Odeon West End

The smash hit Korean sensations, The Man From Nowhere, bursts onto to the UK screens at the Odeon West End at the London Korean Film Festival in great red carpet style.

Ex-special agent and ex-con, Cha Tae-sik lives a quiet life shutting himself off from the rest of the world except from a girl that lives near-by, So-mi.  The child’s mother is a drug smuggler for a local drug trafficking organisation run by two brothers and entrusts Tae-sik with some of the product which she has tried to steal from the her gangster bosses.  Unhappy the traffickers kidnap the family and force Tae-sik to make a delivery, little does he know that it is part of a larger plot to assassinate a rival drug lord and which ends with Tae-sik being arrested.  The body of So-mi’s mother is gruesomely discovered and knowing that So-mi is in danger Tae-sik escapes fights his way through squadrons of armed police officer to hunt down the people responsible for his friends kidnapping and praying that So-mi is still alive.

Featuring a young but talented cast with Won Bin, recently seen in the beautiful Mother, and Kim Sae-ron, from the award winning A Brand New Life. The Man From Nowhere is a revenge story that only Korea can produce.  Much like its brothers in arms, Oldboy and A Bittersweet LifeThe Man From Nowhere is more than an action film discussing ideas of human trafficking, organ harvesting and drug smuggling but still, even with all the dark and gruesome underworld surrounds the characters find themselves in, at the heart is a touching story of the bond between a man and girl.
