[2019 Korean Film and Food Festival(10.19)]
On Saturday, 19 October 2019, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted the 6th Korean Food and Film Festival at Open Window Institute in Pretoria. More than 4,000 people participated in this event which showcased the Korean food and culture.
The festival included: exhibition of Korea food pictures and replicas; Korean food market ran by Korean residents in South Africa (jeon, Korean style chicken, bulgogi, japchae, street food such as tteokbokki, bingsu, jeonbyeong, etc.); trying Korean traditional costume(Hanbok); cultural activities such as mask, fan and Korean flag pinwheel making; K-Pop quiz and dance; social network event; screening of Korean film(Train to Busan). The K-Pop dance and singing performance, jazz performance by the students from the Department of Music of the University of Pretoria and B-boy dance were hugely supported by the audiences.
Ambassador Jong-dae Park gave a short speech at the outdoor performance and expressed his appreciation to all participants of the event and his willingness to make efforts to strengthen the cultural exchange between two countries.
