From May 19th to 21st, the Visit Korea Committee (Chairman Dong-Bin Shin) will host the ‘International Peace and Life Festival’ to the 6 cities located in the region of DMZ, Gangwon-do. The festival is a special event with the purpose of promoting the importance of life and global peace. The festival will offer ‘Peace & Life Concert’, ‘Peace Bike Competition’, ‘DMZ Eco-Tour programs’, ‘Peace Orientation’, and more.
Starting from May 19th, the city of Chuncheon will hold the Opening Ceremony and ‘Peace & Life Concert’, followed by ‘Peace & Life Cultural Festival’ at Inje-gun from May 19th and 20th (for 2 days). On May 20th, ‘DMZ Rally Peace Bike Competition’ in Hwacheon-gun, ‘DMZ Eco-Tour program’ in Yanggu-gun, and ‘International Junk Art & Peaceful Face Making’ in Goseong-gun will be held respectively. Between May 20th and July 30th, ‘Peace Orientation’ will also be held in Cheorwon-gun.
On May 19th, ‘Peace & Life Concert’, to be held in the city of Chuncheon, there will be numerous K-POP artists invited including BEAST, T-ara, MBLAQ, Lena Park, Buhwal, and more. It will be held at the main stadium of Songam Sports Town, Chuncheon City, 7:00 p.m.
From May 19th to 20th, for 2 days, Inje-gun will host ‘Peace & Life Culture Festival’ in order to arouse public awareness on the ecology preservation and the importance of life, as well as wishing for peaceful unification. It will be held in the region of Inje–gun at DMZ Peace & Life Hill, with 2,000 local and foreign attendees participating in DMZ Peace & Life Contest, Taste Korean Cuisine Event, DMZ Peace & Life Camp, Cultural Performance & Exhibition, Trekking, and more.
‘DMZ Rally Bike Competition’, a bike riding event along the fantastical trail courses of DMZ will be held at the main stadium of Life Sports Park in Hwacheon-gun from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 20th. The event is to be held in order to invigorate nationwide bike-riding boom and leisure culture with more than 2000 participants from bike clubs around the nation. Participants will ride through numerous courses, such as the 73km-long DMZ course and the 25km-long ‘Sanso Trail’ course, for solo and group events.
‘DMZ Eco-Tour Program’ will be held at ‘Dutayeon So Ji-Seob Trail’ in Yanggu-gun from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The program offers walking tour along the Peace & Life trail, a visit to ‘So Ji-Seob Gallery’, Punchball Trekking, and more.
Goseong-gun will host ‘International Junk Art & Peaceful Face Making’ in the region of DMZ with symbolic artworks of the Korean War made of materials, such as rifles and shells. From 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on May 20th, ‘Peaceful Face Making’ and joint art activities with the artists, along with DMZ Security Tour visiting the DMZ Museum and Unification Observatory will be held in the region of Hwajinpo Square, Goseong-gun.
‘Peace Orientation’, a DMZ tour event with the purpose of encouraging peace and security awareness, will be held at Army Experience Site in the region of Cheorwon-gun for future-leading youths and peace-loving foreigners on May 20th to July 30th. With 190 participants for every session, a total of 10 sessions will host 1,000 locals and foreigners for 2 days with army experience program.
