Cho Seong-jin has been voted the world's favorite pianist in a global poll on classical musicians conducted on 11,000 people in 25 countries.

Cho ranked fourth among the world's top 25 classical musicians after violinist David Garrett, opera tenor Andrea Bocelli and violinist Andre Rieu, according to the uDiscover Classical 100 compiled by the London-based music portal uDiscover Music under Universal Music Group.

The survey ran from November last year to January this year.

"The hugely talented Korean pianist Cho Seong-jin shot to the world's attention when he won First Prize at the 2015 Chopin International Competition," uDiscover Music said. "Since then, he's recorded an album of works by Mozart with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and, most recently, a collection of 19th-century works by Schubert, Liszt and Alban Berg."

Fellow Korean Rhee Louma, a composer and pianist better known abroad by the name Yiruma, just made the cut at 25th.

"Yiruma is a thoroughly modern superstar – the pianist and composer's concerts are a guaranteed sell-out and his videos on YouTube have been viewed over 400 million times," the portal said.
