I recently took part in the online program "Korea Kimchi Day" to demonstrate Korean martial arts. The event also featured K-pop acts and Korean chiefs.

The show was aired live from Seoul on KBS and its YouTube channel and simultaneously broadcast in world capitals like Paris, Moscow, Sydney, Hanoi and London.

Me and three other French participants were tasked to make kimchi live on the program via videoconferencing.

Kimchi is perhaps the most representative food of Korean cuisine whose export and global promotion are being led by the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corp, both of which organized and hosted the event. As an Honorary Reporter for Korea.net, I was asked to join the French team.

Korea Kimchi Day aimed to celebrate French-Korean fusion in cooking and promote the health benefits of this age-old food. KBS through its YouTube channel aired a live show with French and Korean figures from cooking and health and Korea-related influencers who prepared kimchi in their own ways, including Eric Trochon, a French chef with a fondness for Korean cuisine and whose restaurant Solstice received a Michelin star.

After almost three hours of broadcast, everyone got to taste a variety of kimchi; the lucky ones sampled preparations by the chefs. Internet viewers also learned from the safety of their own homes how to prepare kimchi. This festive gourmet day also featured someone winning a ticket to Seoul.
