President Moon Jae-in on Dec. 9 in the evening Korean Standard Time (KST) will take part in the inaugural Summit for Democracy online hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden.

President Moon at 10 p.m. KST will be the first speaker at the summit and deliver his speech from the presidential secretariat building of Yeomingwan at Cheong Wa Dae.

He will share the nation's democratic achievements and express his willingness to help promote democracy worldwide.

A campaign pledge of President Biden, the two-day summit is slated for Dec. 9-10 with the goal of boosting democracy globally. The U.S. leader invited 110 countries to take part in the event including Korea, American allies and key European countries but not China and Russia.

The participating countries will share opinions on blocking authoritarianism, eradicating corruption and enhancing respect for human rights.

This will be the third multilateral summit led by President Biden to feature the participation of President Moon, who earlier attended this year the 2021 Leaders' Summit on Climate in April and the Global Summit on Supply Chain Resilience in October during the summit of the Group of 20 economies in Rome, Italy.
