Compulsion to Repeat

The Seoul Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition on the concept of repetition displayed through contemporary art. This concept used to be considered inferior because of its connection to duplication or imitation rather than creativeness or newness. Since the advent of postmodernism, however, repetition has seen social and political reinterpretation as a creative source that makes a difference. Based on this notion, the exhibition also presents the concept of repetition not as an individual problem but one of social structure.

Displayed are around 45 works including videos, installations, paintings, sculptures and photos by nine artists or teams from both home and abroad.
