The National Folk Museum of Korea is holding the exhibition "Land of Tigers."
Part of the cat family and having represented Korea for generations, the tiger has a lifespan of 15-20 years and a pregnancy period of 100-110 days, giving birth to two to four cubs at a time.
The mascot of the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics Hodori and that of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Soohorang were both tiger characters that represented Korea in international competition. The tiger is also used in the emblem of the national soccer team.
The exhibition's purpose is to promote understanding of how tigers have represented Korean traditions and culture. Admission is free.
